Growing up on the gritty east side of Detroit in the 60’s, I learned that hard work is inevitable if one is to succeed in life. Deep in my DNA is to seek adventure by taking on difficult or risky challenges. Counterintuitively, I learned that taking on these types of challenges is often enjoyable and quite satisfying.

Professionally, I began my tech career in the IBM punch card era. Always drawn toward challenges, I’ve evolved from a deep tech guy to a successful enterprise CIO. Career transition has been a non-stop inevitable reality for me. To thrive, these transitions are not to be resisted, but to be viewed as opportunities to grow!

My work has been across multiple industries (telecoms, energy, utilities, insurance, manufacturing, retail) and is global (living outside the US for +10 years, worked in +35 countries).

Through this journey, I’ve learned that I’m pretty good at organizing and motivating resources so that they can be used to deliver exceptional value. Most of my work has been in hyper change situations – high growth or major restructuring, often in challenging environments.

To succeed as a CIO, it’s been incumbent upon me to understand the totality of an enterprise’s mission. Aligning the interests of shareholders, workers, customers and community in a way that will sustainably thrive.

Personally, I believe that sustainable success in business requires a focus on health, wealth and relationships. I strive to bring this balanced approach to every engagement.

Over the last 30 years, I’ve completed over 40 marathons all over the world. To succeed with endurance athletics, especially as we age, requires attention to health and lifestyle. I’m pleased to share much of my passion on these topics with everyone who’s interested.

Today, I lead a small group of like-minded professionals. We help organizations move forward in a positive and sustainable manner. We cover technology, systems analysis, business intelligence, in a holistic fashion. We can be 1-time advisors, project-based contributors or fractional members of your team.
